Monthly Historical Articles to Appear in Local Paper

The Williamson County Historical Society was recently contacted by the new managing editor, Jim Rodenbush, of the Marion Daily Republican about the possibility of raising the visibility of the society and the museum. As a result, we will be furnishing the Daily Republican with a monthly article related to the history of Williamson County that will run 500 to 600 words each.

In addition, Rodenbush was impressed with our sister site, www.mihp.org, related to the history of Marion Illinois and will be extracting the articles from that site to publish a weekly column entitled “Looking Back.” The Marion site is operated by Sam Lattuca, a board member with the WCHS, and has been in operation for almost two years. The site contains over 300 biographies of Marion citizens, over 2,000 photos and innumerable articles about historical events, organizations, businesses, city government and churches. The site also contains business and street directories of Marion ranging from 1876 to 1980 spanning almost 100 years.

Lattuca encourages anyone with historical data related to Marion or the county of Williamson to contact us using the Contact Us tab on this or the Marion site and consider sharing the information.
