Historical Society Held Membership Meeting

The Williamson County Historical Society held a membership meeting on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the museum/library located at 105 S. Van Buren St. in Marion.

During the meeting, society president Sam Lattuca discussed projects undertaken at the museum & library since the last meeting, new items accessioned to the museum, upcoming projects and the state of the museum. He also illustrated the use of artificial intelligence to create movement when applied to historic photos.

The program was divided in two parts. The first part of the program was presented by Sam Lattuca and involved how our Public Land Survey system came into being and how property is organized in the land survey system. Also discussed was how to read and locate property descriptions and work with patent and plat maps. The second part of the program was presented by Charla Murphy and was related to researching and working with deeds.

The Williamson County Historical Society museum/library is currently in its winter hours of operation and is available for research and touring on Saturdays only from 9:30 till 3 PM until early March when it’s hours will return to Wednesday thru Saturday.
