The Williamson County Historical Society has recently released a publication that should be of interest to Marion residents with a taste for learning local history. The booklet entitled, “Historic Downtown Marion Walking Tour” is now available for sale. The publication includes a walking tour map that starts out at the corner of N. Market and W. Jackson Streets at the corner of the old First Christian Church building which is now the Market Street Music Conservatory.
By following the walking map, you will discover 29 points of historic interest along the way, detailed with photographs and historic information about each point of interest on and around the Tower Square. QR codes are included with most of the points of interest for those with smartphones that would like to retrieve further information. The tour will take most people about 45 minutes and ends near the starting point. The self-tour booklet allows one to take the tour at their own pace and convenience of time.
The booklets cost $15 each and are available at the Williamson County Historical Society. The historical society is located at 105 S. Van Buren Street and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 to 3 P.M.
Copies of the booklet can also be purchased at the Marion Star office at 1205 Tower Square and at Fisher Auto Parts, 1201 Enterprise Way in Marion.
