Eighty seven students and several adult chaperones from the Marion Washington School’s fourth and fifth grade classes toured the Williamson County Historical Society museum Thursday, May 22, 2014. The students were broken up into eight tour groups accompanied by volunteers of the county museum and teachers from the Washington School.
The students got to experience for the first time numerous historic artifacts and see what life used to be like as far back as 175 years into the county’s past. Most of the students had never had the opportunity to know how old telephone systems worked or how people had worked or entertained themselves, so it was enlightening experience for all. Because tours of this nature are always under time constraints, it is not unusual for many of the students to return and bring their parents with them at a later date.
Adults attending from the Washington school were Rosy Gribble, Becky Belt, Renee’ Lowe and Travis Vickery. Volunteers from the museum serving as guides were Bob Jackson, Clyde Baily, Ursula Richey, Sharon Vansaghi and Sam Lattuca.
