Fifty new histories have been added to the History page on this site. I am slowly but surely filling in historical data on the cities, ghost towns, villages and places of interest of Williamson County to make it easier to fill in historical blanks when researching past family members and historical events.
All of these new entries are taken from “Pioneer Folks and Places” written by Barbara Barr Hubbs and published in 1939 during the 100th Centennial of the county. Mrs. Barr indicated that most of the credit for the book should have gone to our own Mrs. Nannie (Gray) Parks, early librarian and history buff.
Barr’s book is available at the Williamson County Historical Society Museum located at 105 S. Van Buren Street in Marion or can be ordered on this site in the Book Store section. The volume is a “must have” reference for anyone researching early county history or genealogy.
